Tackling mis/disinformation: Using your voice to influence
On 5th April 2024, the Nursing Now Challenge launched a new Global Solutions Initiative in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO).
This NNCGSI challenges participants to use their voice and influence to tackle mis/disinformation around the Pandemic Accord (OR a specific health issue affecting their community) with the purpose of elevating the voices and perspectives of early-career nurses and midwives to inform discussions around the Pandemic Accord.
The Pandemic Accord offers a once-in-a-generation opportunity to protect future generations from a repeat of the suffering and loss the world suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been designed to strengthen collaboration and coordination across sectors and ensure all people, including youth, healthcare professionals, community members, patients and all other members of society are protected, and prepared for future pandemics. However, there is a growing phenomenon of mis and disinformation surrounding the Pandemic Accord and the implications for member states.
We have run three sessions with our colleagues at WHO to support participating early-career nurses and midwives in developing their concept notes and strengthening their social media skills. By taking part in this NNCGSI, we hope that early-career nurses and midwives will have learned how to use their voices to tackle mis/ disinformation and build trust within their communities.
To take part in this challenge, all you have to do is prepare a short concept note and submit it to challenge@nursingnow.global by 26th July. Please see the Guidelines document below to help you with your concept note.
