Nursing & Midwifery in Crisis
In collaboration with Jaya Mental Health and Jhpiego, the Nursing Now Challenge has launched a new webinar series entitled Nursing & Midwifery in Crisis.
This series focuses on the role of nurses and midwives working in crisis situations around the world with the aim of challenging existing perceptions, highlighting the contribution of nurses and midwives to crisis response, and understanding what is needed to better support them. The series is shaped with a particular focus on mental health and wellbeing.
Launched on 17th November 2022 with representation from the International Council of Nurse’s ( ICN’s) Chief Nursing Officer, nurses and midwives from India, Indonesia, Syria, and Lebanon discussed their lived experiences of working in disaster response and shared ideas about how best to support nurses and midwives working in this field.
The most recent webinar in this series took place on 20th January and focused on the complex role of nurses & midwives working in areas affected by natural disasters and the impact that this can have on their mental health and wellbeing.
