A new nursing journal launched in Italy
An exciting new publication has launched in Italy called Infermieristica Journal (IJ), with the name being the Italian translation of ‘nursing’.
The project comes at a crucial time from an Italian perspective, as the founders say, while international scientific publishing has grown at the lightning speed in recent years, Italian representation has not been able to do so. This made the practice of getting published an exclusive thing, and not as inclusive to all as would be the ideal.
With this Infermieristica Journal project, a group of young Italian researchers are being supported by an experienced, interdisciplinary and international Scientific Board to create a connection between Italian and international scientific publishing. The first aim is to encourage nursing research growth by building a community, and offering training and mentoring to all young researchers to publish their researches and studies.
So what will it be to the community?
Infermieristica Journal is an international peer-reviewed scientific journal that promotes the
knowledge relevant to nursing research and practice development and exchange. IJ supports
evidence-based clinical practice, whilst encouraging and promoting critical debate about the art and science of nursing.
The journal particularly welcomes studies that aim to evaluate and understand complex healthcare interventions and health policies, choosing the most rigorous designs and methods
appropriate for the research question of interest. It also seeks to advance research quality by
publishing methodological papers introducing or elaborating on analytic techniques, measures, and research methods.
The journal publishes original peer-reviewed articles of interest to the international healthcare
community, covering a range of nursing science topics. IJ was born from the need to promote a scientific and popular path which differed from the ones that are currently available in the Italian landscape, with the intention of discussing nursing science in an original way, whilst also encouraging young researchers to join the conversation.
The goals and aspirations are to: promote excellence, improve clinical practice and encourage debate about patient care and nursing, thanks to an active and engaged membership.
