New NNCGSI launching soon: Nurses & midwives driving access, acceptance, & uptake of HPV & cervical cancer prevention services
On 18th October 2024, at 2pm BST, the Nursing Now Challenge will launch a new Global Solutions Initiative in collaboration with the Sabin Vaccine Institute’s Global HPV Consortium.
Globally there are an estimated 660,000 new cases and 350,000 deaths due to cervical cancer, with the incidence of cervical cancer rising among young women 15-49 years of age.
Nurses and midwives have a vital role to play in ensuring access, acceptance and uptake of preventive services and this NNCGSI challenges participants to think critically to develop an innovative solution to do just that.
Over the course of five weeks, we will run three expert-led sessions, providing a deep dive into the prevention and treatment of HPV and cervical cancer, discussing the challenges faced by nurses and midwives and discussing innovative approaches to tackling the HPV burden at local and global levels. Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions but recordings will be made available when this is not possible. We hope that those taking part will engage with our online community in the NNCGSI private Facebook group and use the resources made available to support the development of their concept notes.
