AMR-themed NNCGSI winner announced!
Earlier this year, the Nursing Now Challenge ran a Nursing Now Challenge Global Solutions Initiative (NNCGSI) in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO). This NNCGSI aimed to explore the role of nurses and midwives in tackling antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and asked nurses and midwives around the world to develop a solution that tackles the misuse and overuse of antibiotics.
Today we are delighted to announce the winner of this NNCGSI is Maria Pedro Miala, a registered nurse from Angola, Founder of Tele-Saúde Educativo.
Maria recently founded her startup, Tele Saúde Educativo, which is a platform that aims to provide health education and valuable information to pregnant women and mothers in Angola.
Themes covered by Tele Saúde Educativo include:
– how to detect early symptoms of illness
– how to use and not misuse antibiotics
– the importance of vaccinations for women and children
As a result of winning this NNCGSI, Maria will create a series of videos about AMR with the hope of reducing antibiotic misuse in Angola.
