Elsa has been closely working with the caregivers of elderly living with dementia in the Udupi district with an aim to reduce elderly abuse and neglect. Since 2018, after mapping the care facilities in India and also understanding the challenges faced by caregivers through focus group discussions and its related publications in collaboration with Alzheimer's Scotland, I began my journey of understanding and learning more about care aspects of Advanced dementia elderly and their hardships. I have also taken up an empowerment program for caregivers on basic skills training in health camps across the district as part of my FAIMER fellowship at the International FAIMER Institute Philadelphia, USA with a hope to work closely with all health professionals for the holistic care for elderly living with dementia. Working closely with bed bound elderly, pressure ulcer is common issue among these elderly. To facilitate scientifically and having to have well trained health professionals, I have initiated the "Manipal Coloplast HEAL Academy" to train and contribute towards community pressure ulcers and also hospital acquired pressure ulcers. So far 4 interprofessional workshops have been conducted with the support of industry such as Coloplast India, Essity India, and HBS Kollagen India & USA. The team aims to cover a wider perspective of holistic care toward improving the quality of life of patients and caregivers. Vaccination awareness program in small villages and Urban areas at Baghpat. As More people have many doubts and they as a village people don't want to get vaccinated/ because of less knowledge about vaccination. At Baghpat around more than 50 small villages will be covered at 20 days. we are planning to include nursing final year students as well as nursing faculty. I have observed that in this remote area students are not very much instructed for clinical duties during a pandemic because on one hand people are appreciating nurses work but on the other hand people think, if something happens with patients that is because of nurses negligence. and actually this is faced by students. Because of nurse staff shortages in hospitals Nursing colleges are sending student nurses in the hospital (Covid ward) and they are working same like a staff nurses but they are not getting the high salary only for 8000/-,10000/- Rs student nurse don't wanna go for clinical posting during covid.... Hospitals/units or staff should give equal respect to student nurses too during this situation as they are working for 12 hrs/24hrs... and should increase the salary scale too....
