Kuniko Inoguchi is a Member of Parliament in Japan’s House of Councillors and Professor Emeritus at Sophia University.
As the Vice President of the cross-partisan Parliamentary League for Nursing Problems, Kuniko has launched a subcommittee focused on Nursing Now.
In terms of public assignments, she has served on a number of councils, including the Prime Minister’s Defence Policy Review Council, Administrative Reform Council, and Gender Equity Council. Kuniko also served as her country’s first Minister of State for Gender Equality and Social Affairs.
A political scientist by training, she also has a background in diplomacy, with a particular focus on disarmament. She was appointed Chairperson of the UN First Biennial Meeting of States on Small Arms and Light Weapons, held in New York in July 2003.
